Chapter 3: Laser Irradiation Effect on Thermal Properties of Se96Te4 Glassy Alloy
Synopsis
From thermal studies, it is evident that ΔT and Tc both decrease with increasing laser irradiation time, however, there is no significant change in the glass transition temperature Tg. The degree of crystallization is increased with increasing irradiation time. The enthalpy released is closely associated with the metastability of glasses. The enthalpy of crystallization first decreases after laser irradiation and then slightly increases with increasing irradiation time. The decrease of ΔT at the maximum time of irradiation leads to the conclusion that stable glasses can be obtained only with the minimum time of irradiation.
