Effect of COVID-19 on Pre-existing and New Onset Airway Diseases
Synopsis
Corona is pre-existing virus but not affecting the humans before 2019. Firstly, it was found in China, mainly in Wuhan in 2019. There are the several variants of corona including ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA, DELTA, OMICRON. It mainly affected the lungs of human beings and caused difficulties in respiration and breathing that means it can affect the lungs, throat, and nose. Infection with the virus could lead to the asthma attack, pneumonia or other serious lung disease. Asthma is chronic lung condition that affects the airways and causes inflammation. Asthma causes spasm and narrowing of the airways which lead to wheezing, breathlessness and coughing. Inhaled corticosteroids are commonly used for the treatment of airways disease. Reduce the corona virus replication and cytokines production in cell lines treated with steroid and beta agonist. Randomized clinical trials show that corticosteroids are effective in treatment of corona but there are several side effects in which respiratory depression is the major one. Sepsis is the possible complication of covid-19 that harms your lungs and other vital body organ. In pneumonia, the lung become filled with fluid and inflamed, leading to breathing difficulties. For some breathing problem can become severe enough to require treatment at hospital with oxygen or even ventilator. The pneumonia that covid19 causes tends affect both lungs. Air sacs in lungs fill with fluid, limiting their ability to take in oxygen and cause shortness of breath, cough and other symptoms. Covid-19 bronchitis, acute respiration syndrome are major complication after covid-19 recovery in patient.
Conclusion: We briefly discussed about Asthma that is major post Covid symptom and studied about breathlessness, coughing, wheezing, pneumonia and constriction of airways. On other hand these symptoms arise due to use of corticosteroid.
