Synopsis

Armenia is a mountainous country with complicated relief. The vast majority of its area is located on more than 1000 m above sea level. All the rivers of Armenia belong to the Caspian basin and flow into the Kur or its tributary the Araks. The only exceptions are the rivers flowing into Lake Sevan. The river water is characterized by an uneven distribution of flow with vividly expressed full spring water and a sharp reduction of water level during the deficit period.
